Now That’s What I Call Music! is a series of various artists compilation albums released in the United Kingdom. The 16th instalment in the franchise was released on CD and digital download on 19 November 2012, thereby making it the first album in the series to be released on a Tuesday. The double-disc album features 42 chart hit singles from both well-known and up-and-coming artists.

As with all Now That’s What I Call Music! releases, 20 of the 42 tracks are exclusive to the physical release and are not made available digitally until twelve weeks after the album’s release date; “Payphone” by Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa, “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” by Taylor Swift and “Green Light” by Roll Deep ft. Lilí Kim were among these.

The double CD set also contains three megamixes: a pop mashup titled “The Pop Mix”, a dance mashup and an urban mashup.
